Molly Watson. Using a sharp knife, run the blade against the inside of the peel to cut off each piece of scored mango. Do this either over a cutting board or bowl. Eat the mango as is, use it in a fruit salad, or spoon it on top of yogurt or ice cream. Or turn the mango into mango lassis, a fruity version of a mint lassi. Hold the mango with the stem facing up. The narrow, widest part of the mango is the center where the pit is. The rounder, fatter bits on each side are the "cheeks." Leaving around 1/2-inch from the center of the mango (where the stem is), cut straight down the mango's length, and then repeat on the other side. Start by cutting off the three halves same as that for the 'mango cup and spoon' technique. Now, take one of the mango halves in your palm and cut it into 2-3 slices lengthwise. Repeat the same for the other half. If there is a lot of pulp around the pit, you can also cut that off into thin mango slices. Enjoy! 3. Mango Cubes Place the mango on a sturdy cutting board. Using your non-dominant hand, stand the mango up on a cutting board. You will be cutting the mango downwards from the top of it. [2] With your dominant hand, pick up a serrated edge knife. 3. Use the serrated edge knife to cut the mango into three pieces. [3] Skin: Take a drinking glass or a small cup with a thin rim and place the edge right where the mango skin and flesh meet. Slide the glass between the skin and the fruit, following the curve of the mango, to separate the flesh from the skin. Slice: Remove the mango flesh from the glass and cut it into cubes, slices, etc. Lay the center slice (that contains the pit) on your cutting board and slice off the remaining flesh from either side of the pit. Dispose of the pit and cut the 2 cheeks of the fruit into 3 to 4 parallel slices. Holding the slices together with your hand, rotate them ninety degrees and slice again to make chunks.
